Somali Football Federation (SFF) vice president for
regional development, Abdullahi Sheik Nor, who accompanied president Deni in
the foundation stone-laying ceremony told the media that the construction of
the new stadium is expected to play a key role in the development of football
in the region in and mainly in the city which is the most populated city and
the commercial capital of the Puntland State of Somalia.
On his side, the president of Puntland Dr. Said Abdullahi
Deni, said it was a great pleasure for him to lay down the foundation stone for
Boosaaso city stadium adding that his administration is committed to football which
he said is a game he loves more than any other sport.
"My love for football dates back to the years of my childhood
and in my capacity as the president of Puntland, I am announcing that my administration
is committed to supporting the country’s football” said the president of the
Puntland State of Somalia, Dr. Said Abdullahi Deni, as he laid down the foundation
stone for the new stadium on Saturday.
President Said Abdullahi Deni was elected as the
president of Puntland on 8th of January 2019 and the construction of
the new Boosaaso stadium is seen as a big step taken towards the development of
football in the northeasternmost region of the country.
Meanwhile, the president of Somali Football Federation,
Abdiqani said Arab is scheduled to visit the Puntland State by the end of the
month where SFF boss and his deputy for regional development Abdullahi Sheik
Nor, will meet with the president of Puntland to discuss with him on several development
programs for the region.
